For those estimation problem,
well here is one tutorial maybe this can help,

This is my steps:
- 1st is you have a wall/s in Revit
then we need to extract what is in the Revit parameters.
- 2nd thing is to make a new schedules/quantities
From the main menu find the VIEW-> NEW -> Schedule/Quantity click
scroll down to the Wall ---> and you will see on Right TOp - Name = Wall Schedule
You can rename it If you want and press Ok.
3rd is Now you are in the Schedule Property Dialog Box.
(this is where you will edit most of the schedule/unit/filter parameter which is under the wall schedules)
All the wall parameter is stated here .
the Volume, Area , Width, Type, etc.
Now the question is where on earth is the CHB count??
Its not on the field,
Initially;
- Now we'll go to the the Field
find the Type ------- Add
Volume ---- Add
Area --------Add
this will appear on the Scheduled Field on the right.
Now this is the moment we'll add the CHB count
Simply,
beside the Schedule field click the Calculated value.
Dialog box appear.
Calculated Value
Name it as CHB_Count
Tick Formula
Discipline is Common
Type is Area ( because im calculating the CHB count by multiplying the area X number of CHB pieces)
Formula
type:
Area*11.5Where:
Area = wall area
* = multiply by
11.5 = (this is the # of CHB per square meter area) or maybe more or less depending of the size of your CHB) ( whether its a CHB of anything you want).
Click Ok.
This will automATICALLY added in the Scheduled Field.
Click Ok .
And there it is ..
Your instant CHB count.
magic ...
But wait there's more...
Why is the value is in square meter???? (depending o your template unit)
easy well just change the settings on the fields.
to do this......
In your Project browser
Go down to the ….>>>
Schedule quantities---->>
Wall Schedules………>>> Rigth click and select proporties
This is were well see all the schedules settings and their controls
We will see the Element Property box here and
Identity Data
Phasing
Other …….>>> Select the Formating Edit Bar…….
This will lead us back to the Schedule Properties Dialog Box … under the Fields
Select/Highlight the CHB_Count……>>>>>beside it is you will see the field format
Click….
Unchecked the the Use project settings >>>>>>
Go to the unit symbol and select NONE (to take away that M2 )
And press ok
Ok to exit.
